on regards to the 2 questions that you asked "n and kol" (which Bruce answered in #32)
they are just for the purpose of faster writing/typing
it is always not allowed in formal writing
but just like chinese, we use a lot of abbriviations
for example.. "3Q = thank you"

broadway shows = 百老匯
they are the same thing

and i really enjoyed that theater appreciation class.. i actually learned a lot of stuff from all those plays and movies.  

they actually were talking/discussing one really old Chinese movie.. i forgot the title
but it was really kol seeing all those Americans watching a chinese speaking movie and trying to understand and study it

plus, the class allow us to get cheap tickets to broadway shows
i think thats the best, because an usual broadway musical tickets goes about $100+
so.. this saved me a lot of $$

cuz i will get so scared and can't even finish them

for example.. the famous japenese horror movie "the ring"
